Brief Description

Number 8 Hairdressing in Truro are offering a fantastic opportunity to gain a Level 2 Hair Professional Apprenticeship for a punctual, reliable, friendly individual to join them in their calm and creative Truro salon. The successful candidate will be assisting and learning from the experienced stylists within the team.

Training to be Provided

You will be working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Hairdressing, including Functional Skills if required. 


This apprenticeship consists of a mixture of off-the-job training and on-the-job mentoring and development within the workplace.


You will be expected to attend Cornwall College Camborne or St Austell on a weekly basis, with additional attendance if functional skills are required.

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an offer for a permanent position for the right candidate with opportunities for progression.

Vacancy Detail

Daily duties include but not limited to:



  • Assisting stylists with day-to-day tasks such as colours, foils, washing and blow-drying.

  • Ensuring that the salon is in a good state and products and equipment are well stocked and in good order.

  • Working as part of a friendly team.

  • Taking responsibility for good time management.

  • Using your own initiative under the guidance of stylists.

  • Ensuring the needs of clients are met, and they receive the best possible care and treatment whilst visiting the salon.

Other Information

You must be willing and able to leave your phone alone during work hours. Grade 4/C in English and Maths preferred, but lower grades will be considered for the right candidate if willing to attend functional skills block weeks to work towards a Level 2 qualification. You must have the ability to travel to Truro and to college one day per week.
