Working Week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 07:45 - 18:30. Tuesday and Thursday, 07:45 - 20:00. Occasional Saturdays (Shifts for the above 7.5 hours a day to be agreed in advance). 37.5 hours in total per week.
Brief Description
Highfields Medical Centre and its Belgrave branch seek a full-time Patient Services Advisor Apprentice (37.5 hrs). Deliver friendly, confidential, professional support to patients across two busy sites serving 10,000 people. If you're organised, care about patients, and communicate well, this rewarding role could be for you.
Training to be Provided
- Business Admin Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- End Point Assessment
- English and maths functional skills, if required, which will be delivered via online training sessions for 1 hour per week
- Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date

Possible permanent position after apprenticeship.
Vacancy Detail
- Ensure a welcoming and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain practice processes and make new and follow up appointments
- Ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need an ‘urgent’ consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those requiring temporary cover
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
- Enter requests for home visits onto the clinical system, including all relevant information and where necessary refer to the on-call doctor
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either in person or by the electronic prescription service
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services; accept payment and issue receipt
- Enter patient information onto the clinical system as required
- Ensure that relevant correspondence and reports and results and scanned onto the patient record accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure that consulting rooms are checked at the end of the day and are left tidy and secure
- Undertake any training whether in house or at outside agencies as may be deemed necessary by the Practice Manager
