Brief Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to students’ learning and independence? South Staffordshire College is looking for caring, motivated, inclusive individuals, keen to complete their Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification to support our learners.

Training to be Provided

Teaching Assistant Level 3.


You will be required to attend classroom session one day a week at out Cannock campus.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in developing a career in learning support, special educational needs (SEND) or education. You will provide high-quality support for young people and adults who have an Education, Health and Care Plan or a specific learning difference or disability.


You should be able to work effectively and imaginatively to support students to take part fully in college life, build confidence, develop independence and achieve their personal and career goals.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Work seamlessly with the lecturer to provide outstanding support for students in a range of vocational subjects and levels to achieve the outcomes as detailed in their EHCP or support plan

  • Enable students with a wide range of learning differences to engage with supportive strategies and assistive technologies that support them to make progress

  • Provide personal care for students as appropriate as detailed in their EHCP or support plan

  • Undergo direct classroom observation and take part in peer observation when appropriate

  • Attend and complete training in line with the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification, typically in around 18-months, subject to apprenticeship requirements and successful completion of end point assessment. This will include attended classroom sessions one day a week

  • Safeguard and ensure the wellbeing of students, including taking responsibility for reporting child protection matters

You will be required to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and must be committed to attending classes one day a week at Cannock Campus.
