Vacancy Detail

Working under the direction of the Group Financial Controller, and alongside the Co-CEOs and clinic teams, you will help maintain accurate financial records, prepare timely reporting for the parent company and individual clinics, and develop the technical and professional skills set out in the Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician apprenticeship standard. The role combines paid work with structured off-the-job training and study towards a professional accounting qualification. You will be given real responsibility from the outset, with supervision and review appropriate to your stage of training, and you will be expected to demonstrate the duties and behaviours required to achieve the apprenticeship's learning outcomes.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


The duties below reflect the learning outcomes of the Level 4 accountancy apprenticeship and will be developed progressively over the course of the programme. The list is non-exhaustive:



  • Collate, complete and maintain financial and accounting records from a range of sources

  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate financial reporting often to tight deadlines

  • Undertake monthly and year-end reporting of financial and accounts information for the parent company and individual clinics

  • Maintain the bookkeeping in Xero, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations and journals

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns (incl. partial VAT) and support the monthly payroll process

  • Co-ordinate accounting and finance input from colleagues and peers across the group and clinic teams

  • Help to identify key accounting risks and assist in designing and implementing strategies to mitigate them

  • Communicate and present accurate and timely data to stakeholders, on a regular and ad hoc basis, using an appropriate channel to meet deadlines.

  • Use financial digital and technology systems and processes to support the delivery of accurate and timely financial and accounting information

  • Deliver accounting activities taking account of confidentiality, reputational risk and data security

  • •Collaborate with people internally and externally at appropriate levels to deliver a service that meets customers' needs, with a commitment to professional and ethical standards

  • Consult stakeholders to inform important business decisions and make recommendations to key stakeholders

  • Provide support to the finance team on budgeting, cash flow monitoring, Board and investor reporting packs, and post-acquisition integration

  • Undertake any additional duties on an ad-hoc basis

Other Information

•Sound working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and the month-end process


•Confident using Excel and comfortable learning finance systems such as Xero


•Accurate and methodical, with the organisation to manage competing deadlines


•Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to raise questions and query information that looks incomplete.


•Discreet and trustworthy in handling confidential financial and personal data.


The following would be desirable and advantageous to have experience in:


•Exposure to a multi-site or multi-entity business


•Exposure to a start-up or fast-growing environment.


•Prior use of Xero or a comparable cloud accounting package


•Any exposure to VAT returns, including partial exemption, or to a healthcare, medical or mixed-supply environment


•Proactive, solutions-oriented, and motivated by helping build structure in a scaling business.
•Eligible to enrol on the Level 4 Professional Accounting/Taxation Technician apprenticeship and committed to completing it, including the off-the-job training requirement.
