Working Week: 17 years old: Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 15:30. 40 hours, inclusive of an hour break each day. 18 years old+: Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:30. 45 hours, not including up to an hour break each day.
Brief Description
Embarking on an apprenticeship with Kilnbridge to begin a rewarding career in the construction industry with a respected, forward‑thinking organisation known for delivering complex and iconic projects. As an apprentice, you will follow a structured development plan and receive ongoing guidance from a dedicated career mentor.
Training to be Provided
Level 2 Steel Fixer Apprenticeship Standard:
- NVQ Level 2 in Steel Fixing
You will work on one of our 'live' projects and receive training from a recognised provider either one day a week or on a block release.
Future Prospects
Once you have achieved the Level 2 qualification you will have the opportunity to progress on to the next level. Ultimately, and depending on the individual, you could advance to a supervisory or management role within the construction industry.
Vacancy Detail
As an Apprentice Steel Fixer, you will learn to assemble and erect the steel components required to strengthen reinforced concrete structures, such as bridges, culverts, railway stations, power stations, etc.
- Setting out the work area, following engineering plans
- Using hand and power tools to cut and bend bars or mesh
- Tying steel reinforcement bars (rebars) to build cages
Typically you will work within a larger team on construction projects, and, in the fullness of time, you will be able to interpret contract information, drawings and specifications, in order to assemble and install the components correctly.
Other Information
The minimum age is 17 due to site restrictions and insurance implications. Candidates need to have a CSCS card.
