Brief Description

Peachcroft Pre-school is offering a fantastic apprenticeship opportunity. The pre-school is fun, happy, & committed to the development of children. The strong professional team are passionate about giving children the best start in life. The candidate would need to be motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.

Training to be Provided


  • 18 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point

  • Work-based training with your employer

  • Attendance for a study workshop at Abingdon campus, OX14 1GG (1 day or 2 half days a month)

  • Approximately 12 on-site assessment visits per year

  • Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being

  • Apprentices will need to complete a minimum of 300 hours of off-the-job training during their apprenticeship


End Point Assessment:



  • Knowledge test

  • Professional discussion

To assist with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for guidance.  



  • To help to set up for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session

  • To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met

  • To work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members

  • To advise the Manager of any concerns, e.g. health and well-being of children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary

  • To take action to support the setting to achieve and maintain a minimum good Ofsted rating at the next inspection

  • To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences 

  • To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures 

  • To support meal times within the setting.

  • To actively participate in team meetings, supervision meetings and appraisal meetings

  • To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for personal development 

  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job 

  • To be aware of and adhere to all the setting’s operational policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, and cleanliness of the setting 

  • To ensure that adequate records are kept and updated regularly 

  • To promote the setting to current parents and potential customers

Other Information

The pre-school is open to taking on either a Level 2 or Level 3 apprentice. If you feel you would be overqualified for the Level 2, please do make an application and we can discuss whether the Level 3 would be better suited.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour from April 2025, increasing to £8 per hour from April 2026. This applies to 16 - 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
