Brief Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Fabric Apprentice.  You will be responsible for supporting our team in physical structure and "envelope" of a building. Ensuring the facility remains safe, functional, and aesthetically sound through general repairs and preventative maintenance.

Training to be Provided


  • The completion of this Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship Standard will require monthly training visits from a qualified IPS Trainer to develop the Apprentice’s skills and in addition to this, some training based at our Rochester centre to progress the build of the portfolio and prepare for End Point Assessment

  • Throughout the process, Apprentices will undergo regular testing of under pinning knowledge through assessment

Key responsibilities will include:



  • Assisting in general repairs: Carrying out multi-trade tasks including carpentry, painting, tiling, plastering, flooring, and basic plumbing or electrical work, all under relevant supervision and support

  • Planned Maintenance (PPM): Conducting routine inspections of walls, floors, ceilings, and fire doors to identify and fix issues before they escalate

  • Compliance & Safety: Performing statutory checks such as emergency lighting tests, water hygiene (Legionella), and ensuring all work meets health and safety regulations

Enrolment onto your apprenticeship programme is subject to prior attainment checks, and your Personal Learning Record will be reviewed upon successful appointment. We are also obligated to follow the guidelines around eligibility, set out by the government apprenticeship funding rules.
