Brief Description

Sure Steps have a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in childcare in a friendly, established setting. You will be supporting the qualified team with planning fun activities and carrying out basic duties whilst training to complete a level 2 apprenticeship with an award-winning training provider. Uniform is provided.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.


You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:



  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification

  • Functional skills in maths and English if required


This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.

  • To gain full-time employment

  • To progress to Level 3 EYE

Vacancy Detail

As an Early Years Apprentice, you will be responsible for:



  • Planning educational and fun activities for children 0-5 years

  • Ensuring the setting is safe for children, staff and others

  • Supporting the implementation of the EYFS

  • Taking instruction from your Room Leader

  • Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery

  • Offering all children equal opportunities with regards to their religious beliefs, racial origins, disabilities and cultural background

  • Ensuring that all developmental records and observations are kept up to date

  • Ensuring that the preparation, care and maintenance of the nursery setting and equipment are carried out according to the Nursery’s Policies & Procedures and risk assessments

  • Attending regular staff training and monthly meetings

  • Carrying out duties such as nappy changes, laundry duties and supervision of snacks/meals as directed by the Room Leader. You will also work as part of a team of professional Early Years staff
