  • Working Week: Working week will include time spent attending college as part of the apprenticeship programme. Working hours will be scheduled across any five days from Sunday to Friday and will include some 5am starts, therefore ability to commute is essential. Exact working hours TBC.

Brief Description

Turn your passion for baking into a career! Gain hands-on experience creating high-quality bakery products while developing essential skills in food safety, stock control, problem-solving and product development. Learn from experts and build a future in craft baking.

Training to be Provided

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Baker Level 2 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Baker Level 2 qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required depending on current level.   

Future Prospects

We will offer full-time employment after the apprenticeship with the possibility to undertake further training including a Craft Baker level 3 qualification.

Vacancy Detail

Get hands-on experience at every stage of the baking process, from weighing and mixing ingredients to creating delicious breads, rolls and cakes from scratch. You'll learn how to prove, bake and finish products to the highest standards while playing an important role in maintaining a safe, hygienic and professional bakery environment.

At the end of the apprenticeship, you will get a Baker level 2 qualification.


You will attend Yeovil College every Tuesday morning for Theory sessions plus 7 practical sessions on a Monday throughout the course. The rest of the time you will be working and training alongside our bakers at our Bakery in Bruton.

Other Information

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. In some cases, you may be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
